I was born in 1954 and educated in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. I had shown an early interest in painting and I was encouraged to study Art. As a teenager, I took private tuition in artist studios. There was where I began my training and hard work in the academic way. I drew from casts, still lives, from models, figure painting and analysing the works of other famous artists.
I took a 3 year course in a School of Art and 4 years in The Academy of Art. I was involved in artist’s organisations and took part in different art competitions being awarded with important prizes. Since arriving in England in 1994, I have continued my artistic career developing and extending my techniques. I take part in different exhibitions whenever possible. My works can be found worldwide in many private collections.
I am happy I was born with this passion for drawing and painting. Art gives sense to my life. I am interested and fascinated by all forms of Art and I look for inspirational ideas, techniques and media. I am ready to paint any subject as long as I am inspired and make me happy. In my works the subject matter is quite diverse but the main category is Figurative.
Figure Drawings/Nudes are the main part of my works.
I am fascinated by human body’s complexity shown through movement and resting postures. Sometimes I am inspired by some images, which I happen to see or look for, but usually I work from my head.
During my training years as a young artist I worked only from direct observation. The foundation of my artistic education was academic, learning to draw and paint studies of any subject. Being an artist is not enough the talent or the interest one can have, there must be a lot of work put in it.
