Based in United Kingdom
Rajan Dey is a self taught watercolor artist who lives in the UK. He is well-known for his energetic cityscape, landscape and seascape watercolor paintings. By education Raj is an Electrical and Electronics engineer, by occupation he is an IT manager but by passion he is an artist. Raj had been painting in various mediums like watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel since the age of 5. With no family background of art, he is a self-taught artist. His early interest in art was nurtured during his school days where he had won several accolades. He had partaken in many art competitions during his school days and had won majority of them, which was a significant motivational drive for him. Raj had to suspend painting for several years due to higher educations and work-related travel but had never stopped scribbling and doodling on the back of his notebook. Painting had formally resumed after decades of solitude when he started to develop interests in his child and since then it had never stopped and will expectantly continue for many more years. Over the last few years, his style of work has mellowed a lot. He now focuses mostly on landscapes, cityscapes, flowers, cars and boats. With his most recent works, as you might have noticed, he tried apprehending the mood of the scene with the help of light, shadow and a story behind the scene. He believes in capturing a story and portraying it to the audience with his pronounced skill of brushstrokes through a beautiful medium such as watercolor.
All his artworks are original and done in watercolor artist watercolor paints on high quality paper mostly from Saunders Waterford, Arches, Fabriano Artistico, Canson or Hahnemuhle 300 gsm, 100% cotton and acid free paper. Colors that he uses are from highest quality pigments from Windsor & Newton, Sennelier, Van Gogh. His paintings are greatly inspired by places that I visited or from memories. He mostly produce his artworks from imagination and rarely from a reference photograph.
He also donate some part of my proceeds to charity for good cause, hence your purchase will greatly contribute towards it.
