Abstract Bright Colourful Nude 5100 24 x 32 x 1.5 inches (60 x 80 x 4 cm) Acrylic on Stretched 3D Box Gallery Canvas. The pose is in the most simplified to its basic forms and shapes, disguising the figure's pose. Abstract shapes and pattern of colour shapes define tone outline and shape of the figure. The figure is painted in large single bold strokes of pastel and bright colours. Strong shapes over the representational or realistic values retained by careful observation. Very little colour mixing is done, and pure pre-mixed colours are used, but are also mixed on the canvas in some areas. This adds more variety and texture to the composition. With every stroke producing the colour the Artist requires with a single stoke learnt over many years of mixing and painting. The portrait pose is more traditional, but more expressionistic to exaggerate features. Textured form, shades, light and shape interact and play to add life and movement, complementing the juxtapositions of shape and form. Thick and lush paint has a unique dimensional abstract quality. It is surprising how little information is needed for the eye and mind to make up the full picture. Highly pigmented, heavy body acrylic paint, using a creamy thick consistency of Artist viscosity colours unique to Acrylic and not available in oil paints.
