About the artwork
This is the river Bream (after which the fish is named) it's one of four rivers that pour East out of the Cheviots. These hills are the Northern head of the Penines where, for centuries, the English and Scots have argued about hunting rights. The river is swollen with melt water. I started this painted en plein air and it was stupidly cold.

No Northern Artist would describe himself as such until middle-age and I am no exception. My paintings are not fancy; I am merely trying to impart my love for what I am looking at into the picture.
