About the artwork
"Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity?......" (From 'Ode to the Horse' by Robert Duncan) This pastels 'painting' captures the gentle nobility of the horse, whilst the contrast of light against dark, evokes a sense of mystery. The entire substrate is painted, using a combination of pan pastels (background), soft pastels and pastel pencils. It was created using a limited palette of blacks and greys, enhanced with blue, ochre and touches of white. It is supplied pre-mounted in a snow white conservation mount measuring 19" x 16", with an aperture of 14" x 11".
