About the artwork

The patchwork of small fields are usually divided by dry stone walls, some dating back to the Bronze and Iron Age.I am lucky enough to have friends who have lived there most of their lives who can take me on amazing walks and tell me fascinating historical and quirky facts about the area. This painting drew reference from a photo I took at the top of a hill overlooking Hathersage, with Shatton Moor in the distance. The watercolor is 6.50 x 6.50 inches. About The Artist

Elizabeth Sadler

Apart from an 'A' level in Art, I am self-taught. I have painted throughout my life and it is a source of joy and constant exploration for me. The passion I feel for my work is expressed through my diverse subject matter and vibrant colours. Growing up in a small village in Cambridgeshire I spent long days walking and cycling out in the fields and lanes, observing the rural and rather wild world I inhabited. I graduated with an LLB honours Law degree in London, 1979-82, where I was able to spend time in galleries, attending expos, and enjoying the buzz of the city. Emigrating to Seychelles in 1983 I embarked on a career in art by default as the post I had been promised did not in fact exist! I had my first one-man expo of botanica... (see more)
