About the artwork
Unique glow-in-the-dark Octopus miniature. This actual size blue-ringed octopus is one the smallest and deadliest in the world. A single blue-ringed octopus bite delivers a venomous neurotoxin 1000 times more powerful than cyanide. I decided to use glow in the dark paints to emphasise the chromatophores which are the thousands of colour changing cells that octopuses use for camouflage or as a warning for predators. These sea creatures also like hiding in dark rocks and caves. Light fast 3* Faber Castell watercolour pencils and phosphorous blue Pebeo paint have been used to preserve the artwork. Due to the use of phosphorous (non-toxic glow acrylic) paint the artwork will need to be ‘charged’ in direct sunlight to see the full effect of the glow paint. Alternatively a UV light can also be used. This octopus is displayed in a contemporary white frame. The piece would be perfect for the office, alcove, hallway or a gift for any Cephalopod enthusiast and can be mixed and matched with other artworks. The artwork comes ready to hang and securely packaged with certificate of authenticity.Blue Ringed Octopus
