About the artwork

This is a watercolour and ink of a pair of hares boxing as part of their courtship display in a meadow of poppies, cornflowers and other wildflowers.I have applied gold highlights to add a rich lustre to their coats and used Rotring pen work for definition. Pure colour in the foreground creates the sense of freshness of a spring day and the bright blue sky is layered with banks of fluffy white clouds.  Painted on Fabriano Classico 5 140lb Satinata (HP) watercolour paper. The painting size 14.50'' x 10.50'' and comes with a 2.5'' off white mount card giving it a total size of 16" x 20". Photographed with frame for viewing purposes only.  Certificate of Authenticity signed by myself accompanies each original. The painting will be carefully flat-packed and dispatched promptly. All paintings are clearly dated and signed on the front bottom right corner.

Apart from an Art 'A' level, I am self-taught. The pleasure I gain and the passion I feel for my work hopefully comes across in the varied subject matter and vibrant colours you can find in my paintings Growing up in a small village in Cambridgeshire I spent long days walking and cycling out in the fields and lanes, always entranced by the fine detail of plants and insects as well as the distant horizons Emigrating to Seychelles in 1983 I began a career in Art as the post I had been promised did not in fact exist! I had my first one-man expo of botanical work at Alliance Francais in 1985 followed by another in 1991. I participated in many other expos on the island and had an open studio on Mahe.
