About the artwork
'Love Is All You Need' is a large, mounted and framed, realistic pencil drawing. It captures a tender, poignant moment as a man, probably a hobo judging by his tattooed fingers, feeds a treat to a large dog. He is seated on the pavement before a backdrop of an iconic John Lennon image sprayed on the wall with grunge writing. This artwork is one which allows viewers to form their own opinion of what the story may be. I used Strathmore 400 series paper for this piece which has a pale ivory colour and a light texture to it, enabling me to achieve a full range of tones. I made the frame from 3cm wide, flat natural ash which I then stained with an ebony dye, applying several coats until I achieved a rich velvety black colouration. However the texture of the wood grain is still visible. I then applied a couple of coats of bees wax to seal the surface and leave a silky smooth finish. This charming composition contains a lot of interest without being too fussy and would make an attractive main feature in any room. Measuring 22 x 16.5 inches, it has been mounted in a white mount to a total size is 29 x 23.5 inches including the frame, ready to hang.Love Is All You Need

Hello from my studio here on the Suffolk coast and thank you for taking an interest in me and my art. In my gallery you'll find work created from a broad spectrum of media including graphite pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal and pastel. However I am best known and respected as a watercolourist. My wide portfolio of subject matter includes traditional landscape, seascape, wildlife, pets, portraiture and highly detailed illustration, even some still life. I've been and still am influenced by many predominantly unknown contemporary artists, people who have perfected certain techniques and styles of work which are instantly recognisable as their own. I have worked hard to learn these technical skills, experimenting and developing methods a l... (see more)
