There’s something magical about twilight—the moment when the sun dips low, painting the sky in warm hues, and the moon quietly rises, casting its silvery glow over the landscape. Moon Rising was born from that in-between moment, where day and night embrace, and the world is bathed in gold, amber, and deep twilight blues. In my studio, I let autumn’s palette take over—fiery oranges, soft yellows, and earthy browns blending into an ethereal horizon. The winding river, glowing under the moon’s watchful eye, beckons you forward, whispering of journeys yet to come. This painting is about possibility, about stepping into the unknown with wonder and excitement. Using acrylic on canvas, I layered textures and colours with a mix of palette knives, brushes, and even my fingers, allowing the landscape to emerge organically. Born in Holland, I studied art in College but became a potter for 25 years before picking up the brush again. I feel I am mostly self taught through my love and enthusiasm of painting the world the way I want to see it.
