    About the artwork

The Utopia series is a bright and colourful series of paintings with more than a nod to pop art. Inspired by a fusion of the masters of pop art James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and the graffiti style of Jean-Michel Basquiat and David Carson. It features the recognisable iconic items from the later half of the 20th century and blends them in with distressed graffiti-like layers. This painting is the first in a series of paintings I am making, it is a considerable change in my recent style of paintings and is a return to a style of work I was making almost 20 years ago. While doing my MA in creative multimedia I focused on creating digital fine art and discovered a sheer delight in digital collage. This is a return to that aesthetic but in a painted form rather than a digital one. I have unleashed my inner control freak recently in my return to printmaking and now it is back in the driving seat! MEDIUM: Acrylic paint and mixed media on a cradled wooden board. DIMENSIONS: Height : 19.68 inches (50 cm) Width : 19.68 inches (50 cm) Depth : .75 inches (2 cm) Sides painted to match the painting. READY TO HANG: All canvases and boards are fitted with sawtooth hangers to enable easy hanging (shown in image). SHIPPING: All paintings are packed very carefully in cardboard boxes (recycled where possible) with generous layers of bubble wrap to protect them. All orders will be processed and shipped within 3 business days. Once shipped, you will receive an email with your tracking details and expected delivery date. If you require a specific date for delivery just let me know. All deliveries will require a signature on delivery. FREE UK DELIVERY

Like many artists I have always been a maker of things, a passionate scribbler from an early age and a lifelong experimenter with anything and everything that comes to hand, never happy with clean hands or unspoilt clothes. I have a degree in fine art and a masters degree in creative multimedia and love to create imagery in both traditional and digital formats and sometimes a melding of both together. My paintings inhabit the area between abstraction and figuration, I love forms , colours and textures that hint at meaning and yet allow my eyes to dance across the painting and my mind to run free.
