About the artwork
A large studio painting inspired by a plein-air sketch I did after a heavy snowfall. The eye is drawn along the brook as it snakes up the valley towards Diglea and the snowy hills beyond. Orange grasses bring a touch of warmth to this crisp winter scene. Acrylic. Box canvas with painted edges so it can be left unframed.

For ten years I lived in southern France where I discovered the joys of watercolour sketching en plein air and began to develop my pictorial style. I now live in the Pennines, on the edge of the West Yorkshire moors. My studio, a wonderful light-filled space, is located in a converted Victorian cotton mill overlooking the river and canal.
