Phil studied Illustration at Wolverhampton University before training to teach art at Birmingham UCE. He now exhibits at several Yorkshire galleries and he has sold work all over the UK His Yorkshire inspired work has featured in Yorkshire Life Magazine and some of Phil's New York scenes are published by Rosenstiel's ( Felix Rosenstiel's Widow and Son Ltd.),Fine Art publisher since 1880 exporting prints to over 100 countries worldwide. Phil often paints in a textured, colourful and impressionistic style, he tries through his paintings to create a modern interpretation of common themes, sometimes working in mixed media including tissue paper, photography, inks and acrylics.
