I am a painter working with acrylic on canvas. I live in the city of York and am surrounded by the most beautiful and dramatic Yorkshire countryside. I take my inspiration from the wonderful landscape, seascapes and also cityscapes around me. My work usually has a beginning point, a place I like and have visited, I take photographs and make sketches.I then begin work on the canvas and let the image evolve as I work .Every painting has many layers of colours and textures applied before I decide it is finished. Often a painting changes a lot between the start and finish points.I come back to a painting again and again over a period of time as it develops , I think there is an emotional element in my work which grows unconsciously.
