About the artwork
Summer Dissolving is a 48x36x1.5 inches oil on canvas abstract landscape painting of a Sussex summer wildflower meadow with swallows. This painting was inspired by walking around in summer fields at the end of August near Pulborough in Sussex. The painting spans through dark outer edges of dark greens, blues and purples to give the appearance of zooming into a portal from another place. It shows a view across a field with very colourful abstract flowers and wheat fields through to trees and a glimpse of a lake in the background. To the left are three swallows flying swiftly over the flowers and merging in and out of the landscape casting patterns and wispy shapes that suggest motion and the transience of summer. The aim of the painting was to try and capture the feeling of how seasons slowly dissolve and transform into the next one. It is slightly sad as summer in England is very brief but very beautiful. It is painted on deep edge canvas, edges dark blue, no frame needed, ready to hang.Summer Dissolving

*Gill Bustamante B.A. – Artist and Art Tutor, Sussex.* My name is Gill Bustamante and I paint large contemporary landscape and seascape paintings in oil on canvas. They are mostly inspired by the Sussex landscapes I see around me where I live. My painting style is a fusion of Expressionist, Impressionist, Semi-abstract, Art Nouveau and something I term ‘memory impressionism’. This is where I go walking somewhere rural, look at and absorb the things I see and experience, and then come home and try to capture an 'echo' of the place from memory, including any wildlife I may have seen. I completed a fine art degree in Brighton in 1983 and I have painted since I was three. It always makes me happy along with cake, bunnies, driving errat... (see more)
