Always hard to find, I am lucky to live near a part of the Uk which is the last stronghold of these enigmatic insects. These butterflies and their habitat are fiercely protected and a must-see for keen butterfly -watchers. They are our largest resident butterfly. I have set this swallowtail amidst small daisies and meadow flowers amidst a faded blue background. the butterfly is embellished with some gold watercolour This watercolour and Ink work is painted with Winsor & Newton, and Schmincke watercolour paints on Arches 140lb CP watercolour paper. About The Artist

Elizabeth Sadler

Apart from an 'A' level in Art, I am self-taught. I have painted throughout my life and it is a source of joy and constant exploration for me. The passion I feel for my work is expressed through my diverse subject matter and vibrant colours. Growing up in a small village in Cambridgeshire I spent long days walking and cycling out in the fields and lanes, observing the rural and rather wild world I inhabited. I graduated with an LLB honours Law degree in London, 1979-82, where I was able to spend time in galleries, attending expos, and enjoying the buzz of the city. Emigrating to Seychelles in 1983 I embarked on a career in art by default as the post I had been promised did not in fact exist! I had my first one-man expo of botanica... (see more)
