I was originally trained as a scenic artist working for The Royal Opera House, which greatly influences themes and concepts for my paintings. In the theatre I have worked with leading designers and artists including John Craxton, David Hockney, Jock McFayden, Sidney Nolan, Victor Passmore and John Piper. The style surrounding the majority of my work is figurative, with a technique of reverse painting on perspex. I have a love of colour and I am drawn towards painting those subjects where the use of colour can transmit a sense of the bright vibrancy, and illumination that one can get from life.
