These works are a selection of recent genre paintings. The original definition of genre is loosely described as : paintings that depict the 'everyday' in a lyrical and poetic fashion. These paintings are largely influenced by the figure, ballet, poetry, music etc. and they use these different sources to transform and reflect experiences that are common to us all. A lot of my work is also influenced by experiences of travel so the imagery focuses on hotel facades, restaurants, yachts, marinas, cars(including classic cars/racing cars). I am particularly interested in reflections and movement and the abstract possibilities that this creates.
