About the artwork

A multilayered acrylic painting of three willow trees set against a landscape with water and rows of trees in the background, all under a pale pink and blue winter sky. Inspired by the Somerset Levels near where I live, this painting suggests the silent and reflective mood of a winter evening in the countryside. The willow trees are omnipresent in the Levels, their dark trunks and wildly sprouting branches a sharp contrast to the flat fields one often finds flooded at the beginning of the year. The painting has a frame of natural wood.

About The Artist

I was born Switzerland, but have spent most of my adult life travelling and living in various Asian countries, such as Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand, before I finally settled down in Somerset in 2009. I now live right in the heart of the little market town of Wellington and finally have a studio of my own where I can paint and hold exhibitions. Painting for me means exploring the interaction of colour and form in order to create particular moods, mostly of places I find especially beautiful and worth capturing to share with viewers. Above all, though, painting is also an experiment, a challenge and a journey into the unknown. I am always open to trying out new techniques and using new materials, which means that over the years I have dev... (see more)
