About the artwork
The inspiration for this painting was to incorporate the Eye of Horus which is an Egyptian symbol representing protection since it was believed this symbol had protective powers against evil. This symbol also represents good health, due to it's believed healing powers. I imagined this eye radiating energy since it had so much significance in ancient society. This is my inspiration for the colors radiating from the eye representing this protective healing energy. The colors incorporated are the chakra colors: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. Violet, the crown chakra, represents understanding and spiritual connection. Indigo, the third eye chakra, represents psychic abilities and imagination. Blue, the throat chakra; self-expression. Green, the heart chakra, represents love and compassion. Yellow represents freedom to be yourself. Orange represents emotion, creativity and sexual energy. Red, the root chakra, represents instinct and survival.
