Gilded gates, honey coloured plaster-work and a red stair carpet invites you to a cooler interior and an escape from the heat in spite of the verandah and upper balcony. This limited edition print was made in the studio from colour notes, outline sketches and impressions accumulated during a visit to Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia in 2002/3. Using carborundum grits on the printing plate gave me the intensity of light and shade, and the carved card work forming the architectural elements echoed the plaster work that so impressed me. I worked as a fine art printer, engraver and lecturer on post-graduation from Chelsea School of Art in 1976. My painting, engraving and limited edition prints have been exhibited in the United Kingdom and in international galleries and I’ve developed commissioned work for institutions, public areas and private clients. For twenty years I collaborated with fellow artist Rima Farah, each of us signing our joint paintings and limited edition prints.
