In fact it wasn’t until I thought I was finished painting that I caught a glimpse of the grasshopper. It was as if the energy of the ram had burst through in the first instance and then afterwards came the whisper of his little friend “Hello, I’m here to show you the way and get you there in an instant!”. I was initially trained as a graphic designer and illustrator and have a background of nearly 20 years experience in traditional, realist portraiture and wildlife painting. Moving on from this style of working, I now embraces a looser and more free-flowing art style. The inclusion of animals in my art continues, but the energy and spirit of them, is now of more importance than totally accurate representation.
