About the artwork

Living in the Fens, swans of all species are a frequent sight through the winter months. I took a photo of this Mute Swan at Wicken Fen and have used it as reference for this work. I have kept this watercolour simple and understated to express the clear lines of the reeds, reflections in the softer light and starker environment. This fine art piece is painted on Arches 140lb CP watercolour paper with Winsor & Newton, and Schmincke watercolour paints. The painting is 6.50 inches square and comes with a white mount, total size being 10 inches square Certificate of Authenticity signed by myself accompanies each original. The

About The Artist

Elizabeth Sadler

Apart from an 'A' level in Art, I am self-taught. I have painted throughout my life and it is a source of joy and constant exploration for me. The passion I feel for my work is expressed through my diverse subject matter and vibrant colours. Growing up in a small village in Cambridgeshire I spent long days walking and cycling out in the fields and lanes, observing the rural and rather wild world I inhabited. I graduated with an LLB honours Law degree in London, 1979-82, where I was able to spend time in galleries, attending expos, and enjoying the buzz of the city. Emigrating to Seychelles in 1983 I embarked on a career in art by default as the post I had been promised did not in fact exist! I had my first one-man expo of botanica... (see more)
