"Woodland Blues" captures the lovely woods near my home in Derbyshire in Summer and at the moment there are carpets of bluebells filling the forest. Sunlight filters through the leafy glade merging with blue flowers and grasses dappling the forest floor. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. The edges are painted white, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang. I use impasto techniques applied with a palette knife in multi layers, which creates an impressionistic effect and if you look closely you can see the first layers applied in places. For secure shipping I package work carefully and dispatch by special delivery using parcel force, always tracking for the journey so that your painting will arrive safely. I am a contemporary artist producing vibrant colourful and highly textured original paintings. After studying fine art at Sheffield Hallam University, achieving a B A Hons (1st class) I subsequently lectured in colleges. I now practice full time as an artist from my studio in the Peak District. Painting is a response to the beautiful landscape around me, the experience of being in the place is an important part of the process. When I paint trees and forest scenes I attempt to capture the ethereal quality of light filtering through the leaves. I hope to impart the sense of peace and meditative calm I feel in these quiet places, whilst conveying an unspoken conversation with nature.
