Old Victorian school house with a chequered past. This building was built in around 1850 and had seen many uses through the years. It has been a school since the 1960s but closed down amidst scandal in the 1990s and has been left to decay ever since. The parquet flooring in this shot appears to be bursting upwards as if some force pushes upwards from beneath. This place had a musty smell of damp and mould and was suffering from years of water damage.
Photographer with a preferred subject matter of decaying and abandoned buildings. From crumbling manor houses to huge industrial location I love the sense of discovery when entering a new location for the first time, not knowing if it will be a burnt out shell or offer up some stunning features weathered by time and nature. Industrial locations in particular give a feeling of entering a different world and often present amazing scenes which can appear straight out of a science fiction film.
