As part of my "Icons" series, this is a portrait of Ziggy Stardust.David Bowie's alter ego Ziggy Stardust, a rock star who acts as a messenger for extraterrestrial beings. Bowie created Ziggy Stardust while in New York City promoting Hunky Dory and performed as him on a tour of the United Kingdom, Japan and North America. Alcohol Inks on Yupo Paper, mounted on wood box canvas. 50x70x cm 3.5cm deep. The painting is covered by a layer of epoxy rasin.Resin is similar to varnish in that it gives a glossy, protective finish – only resin is MUCH thicker and can be applied all at once. Raffaella Bertolini is an Italian born Artist, working and Living in London, UK. I gained an Art Diploma at Liceo Artistico "A. Martini" in Savona, Italy. In 1998 I moved to London where I completed two oil painting courses at the Richmond Adult College. My Art has developed over many years. I explored a variety of mediums and forms, such as, water colour, acrylics, oils, mosaics and decoupage. A source of inspiration for my latest works comes mainly from popular culture, ideologies and music icons. Portraiture is my main subject focusing primarily on the female figure.
