Jools Lawley
Jools quirky and stylised figurative two dimensional compositions arise from the inspiration she gained from first seeing the three dimensional work of the sculptors Henry Moore and Giacometti whilst studying at university. The elongated curving figures, often referred to fondly as her 'stick men,' cover such characters as musicians, sportsmen, surfers and street dancers, yet the possibilities are endless. She works in ink on paper as well as in acrylic on canvas and from the size of a postcard to metre square canvases. Jools is open to commissions; recent work has favoured personalised touches whereby first name initials are incorporated within the swirls of the hands or feet along with objects, that reflect favourite hobbies and pastti...
