About the artwork
Poros is a small Greek island in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf separated from the Peloponnese by a 200-metre wide sea channel. It consists of two islands: Sphairia, the southern part, which is of volcanic origin and where today's city is located and Kalaureia, the northern and largest part. A bridge connects the two islands over a narrow isthmus. This little church is situated directly on a little beach in the village of Askeli, Poros.
I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my distinctive style so that today, my work is instantly recognisable. Being self-taught has been advantageous - my style has not been moulded but has evolved. It has not been influenced by the work of others but has become uniquely my own by the processes of practice, development, persistence, trial and error. A lot of the inspiration for my work comes from the photographs that I take whilst out kayaking and walking along the coast and rivers of this beautiful County. I portray what I see with innocence and simplicity, using the vibrant colours of acrylic paint to create my view of the world
