About the artwork
Minimalist figure depicting Andromeda (Greek mythology), being punished by Poseidon because her mother, Cassiopea boasted that Andromeda was more beautiful than the Nereids. As the painting is touched by different levels of light, due to the 'entailles' (paper cuts) the image 'changes'. Supplied framed.

Jean Lagadec
Raised and educated in Paris, my artistic interest was nurtured in the 50’s, amongst the art and jazz communities on the Left Bank. I aim to portray the duality between the mundane and the supra-mundane. My modern creations, mainly based on classical mythological beings, express a transcendental vision of abstracted beauty. The viewer must decipher abstract forms which, once the simple lines & hint of shadows are combined, crystallise into clearly defined images. I have developed “entailles” (cuts into paper or canvas) technique, to create relief/perspective and this changes the image, according to the direction in which light falls onto it.
