About The Artist

Lizzie Cornelius

My life by the sea and love of photography has provided me with endless inspiration for my paintings and art projects. I capture the images of seaside life with a photograph and then deconstruct the image in my sketchbook in pencil as a starting point. Here I outline the structure of my paintings. Then I reconstruct my image using an acrylic mix of paint on canvas into my own simple and honest style. The contrast between my photographic work and my paintings could not be greater. My studio, which is located on the beach on Hayling Island where I live and breathe seaside life, is reflected in all my work.
