Mike Samson Following 13 years in the Military and redundancy after a 25 year career in the Printing Paper Industry I returned to painting in 2012. Although predominately self taught, I was introduced to the serious pursuit of "Plein Air Painting" on location by fellow painter Matthew Alexander. He influenced and encouraged me to paint from life to understand the landscape and environment. Using these location studies as reference for larger studio paintings. My selection of work here is a blend of the two disciplines, some of the paintings are purely "Plein Air" and some are studio pieces. I am continually drawn to paint the view how I see it, in the landscape, the City, or by the Sea in my impressionist, unashamedly tradition... (see more)
