About the artwork
I was captivated by the deep colours of an intense rainstorm drifting over the neighbouring fields. I used drips of paint and glazes to convey the moody wet quality of the light and the ominous atmosphere of the approaching squall. The artwork is painted in high quality oil paints on a square stretched canvas. The sides of the canvas are painted and it comes with appropriate hanging fixings ready to hang straight onto your wall. A coat of varnish has been applied to protect the painted surface. The work is signed on the front. A catalogued certificate of authenticity is attached to the back. British figurative and landscape artist Dawn Rodger was educated in London and Australia and is now based near the Taw Estuary in North Devon, where she paints from her studio inspired by its stunning big skies and coastal waters. Her artworks reflect her preoccupations with light, colour, and an unobtrusive symbolism, with threads and folds of fabrics representing thoughts and emotions, animals symbolising absent friends and loved ones, beaches marking the space between the conscious world and unconsciousness, and stars and circles implying history, chronology and time.
