I see how it dances around me, illuminated by ice, a triumphant, beautiful and immense monster. It was in the hands of death, in the dying dead, in thirst and hunger, in agony, meanness and madness, it was hatred and despair, pity and rejection, it was this blood and this flesh, this horror and this brilliance.
