When we think of summer, we think sun, flowers, beach, holiday, beautiful places, gardens and coastlines, to name just a few. These are the elements that not only bring us happiness during the warm season, but they also represent a never ending source of inspiration for artists of all times.
From Poppy Field by Claude Monet to A Bigger Splash by David Hockney and everything in between up until today, summer paintings are as diverse in style and theme as the artists who created them and the artistic eras they were created in. But let’s take a closer look at some of our artists inspired by summer.
Miriam Meek in her painting August Evening, uses a mix of colours that can be seen in the sky on August evenings at sunset, when the light changes in a matter of minutes.
