Framed painting of part of Malmesbury Abbey. Originally sold by Henry Vlll to an entrepreneur to be used as a factory. New Owner fell sick, vowed if he recovered would give abbey to the people of Malmesbury. He survived and build a mill at bottom of town and Abbey given to people of the town. Damage to Abbey caused by a massive storm (Hurricane).
I was born in a country that no longer exists: Rhodesia - today it is Zimbabwe. As a child I ran around bare foot and went exploring in the bush. I started drawing my finds at night (no TV). As I was a little wild, I was sent to boarding school. It was on the site of an old gold mine. Art was part of the curriculum, I loved it. As an Adult I qualified as a teacher and was sent to Chipinga. I started painting backdrops for the plays we did. I spent a lot of time researching and making sketches for the plays. This took a lot of time .Once ready to paint the backdrop, we used an army of school children, teachers and parents to complete the work. It was a real community effort.
