As a child growing up in Sydney, Australia, I always loved drawing and painting. I longed to go abroad, to London and the Continent to study art, and envisaged myself painting in a garret in some exotic place.
I studied fine art at the National Art School in Sydney and set off for London in the swinging 60s. I love living in London and have never stopped painting.
Over these years I've worked as a graphic designer, art director, College art teacher, and also as an animator (I spent two years at the London International Film School), and my hand-drawn animation films have won prizes and been shown internationally and at the London Film Festival.
Throughout, my true love has always remained fine art: painting. Now that I have retired from art teaching, I can finally devote myself to my own practice – painting in acrylics, oils, mixed media, pastel, pen & wash, watercolour and mono printmaking. The more I paint, the more I want to explore new techniques, new media and new subjects. I particularly enjoy working with other artists and exhibit my work regularly in many local galleries. My work is held in private collections in the US, London and Australia.
