About the artwork
Painted from the Hooded Gull series of paintings from Christchurch, Dorset in 2014. Expressive brushstrokes are used to carve out the shape of the gull. With the use of large and small strokes. Painted on an orange background which is exposed in places to unify the painting as a whole. Colour is used throughout in dark and light areas. This is a small painting done on an 8x10 inch canvas using Acrylic paints.

Marie Antoniou
I studied Scientific illustration at Middlesex university which gave me a good grounding on drawing. I mainly paint Wildlife. Through expressive brushstrokes I aim to depict the movement and life that nature has to offer and patterns that are created naturally. Although most of my time is spent in my studio in Essex painting, I run small workshops for beginners and improvers. I exhibit with various galleries.
