Portland Bill is a narrow promontory (or bill) at the southern end of the Isle of Portland the southernmost point of Dorset. It is known for its rough coast, and is the only place on Portland where the limestone cliffs rise directly from the sea. The light house(1 of 3) was built to protect shipping, in particular from its strong tidal race and shallow reef. This painting is on a narrow canvas with painted sides and is ready to hang or can be framed.
I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my distinctive style so that today, my work is instantly recognisable. Being self-taught has been advantageous - my style has not been moulded but has evolved. It has not been influenced by the work of others but has become uniquely my own by the processes of practice, development, persistence, trial and error. A lot of the inspiration for my work comes from the photographs that I take whilst out kayaking and walking along the coast and rivers of this beautiful County. I portray what I see with innocence and simplicity, using the vibrant colours of acrylic paint to create my view of the world
