Shrewesbury station gate locks. A contrast between the old style lock and ornate gates of the Victorian era and the lock and chain of today. Great rust and flaking paint. Entered into Royal Academy 2014 framed for the show. Got through the initial rounds but not in final hanging.
I was born in a country that no longer exists: Rhodesia - today it is Zimbabwe. As a child I ran around bare foot and went exploring in the bush. I started drawing my finds at night (no TV). As I was a little wild, I was sent to boarding school. It was on the site of an old gold mine. Art was part of the curriculum, I loved it. As an Adult I qualified as a teacher and was sent to Chipinga. I started painting backdrops for the plays we did. I spent a lot of time researching and making sketches for the plays. This took a lot of time .Once ready to paint the backdrop, we used an army of school children, teachers and parents to complete the work. It was a real community effort.
