The images were inspired by our friend Ruth becoming a stonewaller. The first section depicts my nephew's wedding; the second section depicts a Neolithic idol; the third section reflects on 'Make Poverty Histort' day; while the forth is abput life and death. The wall is a running theme throughout the pictures, Ruth apears making the wall in the forth section.

Artists statement James R Howrie I was born 1959 in Leicester son of, Robert Howrie then head of the School of Architecture. As a small child I felt compelled to draw; my father used to buy rolls of plain wallpaper for me that I would fill. I trained in art in Leicester and Liverpool getting a degree in fine art from the latter. I have had 13 solo exhibitions over the years; in Leicestershire, Littlebrough, Nottinghamshire, Lancaster and Cumbria. From 2008 until 2010 I painted the complete plays of William Shakespeare. My work combines abstract elements and patterns, with elements of realism to produce work which is not just for the moment but for all time. For me the best Art is mysterious.
