About the artwork
“There Paradise Lies” is an ethereal abstract seascape oil painting 100 x 100cm (39 x 39 inches) on a 4cm (1.5 inch) deep canvas. Painted after spending time in Cornwall watching the sunset over Mounts Bay. The title is from a John Martyn song It's painted in shades of blue, orange, yellow with white. The paint is layered and blended and heavily textured in parts, the sides of the artwork are painted white and it is signed on the back. It’s ready to hang and comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity. When I despatch a painting I always send a personalised card and a complimentary set of 3 hand made greetings

I am an abstract painter inspired by nature and music, particularly the coast and horizons at sea. My latest paintings are abstract sunsets and seascapes using colour to express light reflecting onto water. I always listen to music when painting and feel that this has a strong influence on the finished work. I’ve chosen song lyrics from Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Pink Floyd and David Bowie amongst others to title my paintings. I feel that a snippet of a song lyric as a title gives the painting extra depth. Lyrics often jump out at me when I'm painting and seem to fit the artwork perfectly!
