Jonathan Traynor

Based in United Kingdom
I am a visual artist based in Manchester UK. Having graduated from Manchester School of art in 2012 in which I studied BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation I have continued to produce and exhibit work. I focus primarily on the human figure and specifically the female nude and I employ an expressionistic style in which to convey narrative, concepts and emotions. I am interested in depicting the types of relationships between people and also subverting the traditional idea of the nude in visual art. Currently I use traditional materials such as charcoal, soft pastel, watercolor and oil paint. Late 19th and early 20th century German expressionism has had a particularly strong influence on my work. I have exhibited mainly in Manchester since graduating but I was also part of a group exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery in London in 2013. I also had a series of drawings published in the literary and arts magazine Ambit in 2013.
