About the artwork
A Beautiful Survivor is a large pink and purple panoramic seascape painting with a lone seagull flying over a calm white ocean. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. This is a serene painting and was inspired by Florida skies which are always entertaining – especially as the sun rises and sets. The colours range from bruised purples through to amethyst, light blue, magenta and light gold yellows to glowing whites. The seagull herself reflects all the colours around her and is not at once visible in this large painting. She reflects her surroundings and is the survivor who navigates the sea and the sky. I find her inspiring and a little metaphorical as seagull do not have an easy life and yet they are able to survive on land, sea or sky – I find that quite enviable. Dedicated to all people everywhere who are surviving beautifully. Painted on Deep edge canvas, no frame needed, white edges, ready to hang. *Gill Bustamante B.A. – Artist and Art Tutor, Sussex.* My name is Gill Bustamante and I paint large contemporary landscape and seascape paintings in oil on canvas. They are mostly inspired by the Sussex landscapes I see around me where I live. My painting style is a fusion of Expressionist, Impressionist, Semi-abstract, Art Nouveau and something I term ‘memory impressionism’. This is where I go walking somewhere rural, look at and absorb the things I see and experience, and then come home and try to capture an 'echo' of the place from memory, including any wildlife I may have seen. I completed a fine art degree in Brighton in 1983 and I have painted since I was three. It always makes me happy along with cake, bunnies, driving errat... (see more)
