About the artwork

The Long Mynd is a part of Shropshire’s area of outstanding natural beauty. Being lucky enough to live in the ANOB I have seen the Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley in all seasons and all weather. As an artist Shropshire’s countryside has always inspired me. Seeing the purple of the heather covering the hills just before it was darkened by a summer storm was particularly stunning. This artwork is ready to hang, painted with Daler-Rowney artist quality oi paints on a stretched artist’s quality canvas with wire at the back, for protection it has two coats of artist quality varnish.

I was born in Bridgnorth Shropshire on a farm, so my first artwork was influenced by my love of nature and the changing seasons. I am still very much inspired by nature, but I love panting street scenes, still life, interiors, figures and vehicles. After making the finals of the Laing Art competition in 1992 and selling at the Mall Galleries London I was able to take commissions, work on murals and develop greetings card designs, whilst making sales in various galleries. I also taught drawing and painting at Stafford college for 17 years. I still teach, but now hope to devote more time to my own painting. I am happy to take commissions please message me.
