About the artwork
April Explodes is a 30x30x1.5 inches oil painting that depicts the exuberance and joy of bluebell season in a springtime wood. The viewer is being led along a path with dappled sunlight flickering across the path and trees and bluebells. At the end of the path, you can see the edge of the wood which is so bright you can see nothing beyond it. This is a fairy tale wood and anything could be there hiding in the trees or in the clearing beyond. My intention in painting this was to try, as I do every year in April, to capture the beautiful colours and scents of a woodland in spring. The use of very fluid paint reflects how fast bluebell season goes as the paint is distorting and merging into the scene but still shows exactly what it is. It is semi-abstract and contemporary and very vibrantly coloured. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH5YPbe4iOkApril Explodes

*Gill Bustamante B.A. – Artist and Art Tutor, Sussex.* My name is Gill Bustamante and I paint large contemporary landscape and seascape paintings in oil on canvas. They are mostly inspired by the Sussex landscapes I see around me where I live. My painting style is a fusion of Expressionist, Impressionist, Semi-abstract, Art Nouveau and something I term ‘memory impressionism’. This is where I go walking somewhere rural, look at and absorb the things I see and experience, and then come home and try to capture an 'echo' of the place from memory, including any wildlife I may have seen. I completed a fine art degree in Brighton in 1983 and I have painted since I was three. It always makes me happy along with cake, bunnies, driving errat... (see more)
