About the artwork

This is an oil painting inspired by a visit to Ullswater , Lake District. This is the first in a series I am still working on called “ the night season”, where the highs and lows of life seem to parallel those in seascapes with moody skies and turbulent/ calm waters. There is beauty in the storm.. I like to catch the light in my landscapes and often use that as a focal point. The colours are browns, teals and greens with a detail of copper oil pastel . My technique is gentle with lots of blending with a large brush . This is not signed on the front as I felt that would detract from the feeling and is signed in full at the back. I have framed this piece but it can be sold unframed too for a lesser amount. The frame is a black painted wood.

Based in the countryside of Essex, I am an expressionist painter originally from South Africa. My paintings are a reflection of my journey to constantly push myself beyond limitations, drawing on the beauty I see around me. My love of loose brushwork, instinctive colour and paintings that embrace our life’s journey, is reflected in my work.
