About the artwork

A calm snow scene at sunset of an English landscape with a wall and an old rusty gate in the foreground and a line of trees in the background. The painting is inspired by the countryside around Wellington in Somerset where I live and captures the moment before the sun disappears and sheds one last warm glow over the snow. The painting comes in a brown frame matching in colour the wall which forms a horizontal focal point in the scene.

About The Artist

Alexandra Lavizzari

I was born Switzerland, but have spent most of my adult life travelling and living in various Asian countries, such as Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand, before I finally settled down in Somerset in 2009. I now live right in the heart of the little market town of Wellington and finally have a studio of my own where I can paint and hold exhibitions. Painting for me means exploring the interaction of colour and form in order to create particular moods, mostly of places I find especially beautiful and worth capturing to share with viewers. Above all, though, painting is also an experiment, a challenge and a journey into the unknown.
