Artist Statement
There have been various influences in my
work, especially from the Gothic-Romantic
genre. Literature by the Bronte Sisters,
Thomas Hardy and Byron enables me to get in touch with my own emotions. None more so than Wuthering Heights, with it’s dark brooding landscape.
Within my work I try to capture the mood of a place rather than simply
producing a topographical study. I hope to achieve this effect by the
overlaying of different materials, using acrylics and varnishes. Working with
mixed media gives you the ability to respond to chance and accident, often
creating unique results.
