Life is too short to be ordinary!
Formerly active as a Biologist, I currently work as a scientific illustrator and visual artist. My art is mostly inspired by nature, but also by my affinity to bizarre, strange and morbid stuff, historical subjects, remnants of times gone by, mysterious tales, and short impressions gained from everyday life. I use different techniques and media to create complex and detailed artworks - partially abstract, partially figurative. I love to play with different kinds of contrasts and, although I'm an organized person, the magic of coincidence is an important instrument in my art.
The study of biology affected my life positively in many different ways. I learned to look more closely - and even closer - at the things that surround us. As scientist I spent much time with the microscope and laboratory experiments. What remains is the inspiration by the microscopic world and the myriads of biological phenomena as well as my addiction to experimenting and creating something different using various techniques and media.
