Pauline Wagstaffe

Based in United Kingdom
I studied Illustration at Harrow College of Art and worked as a freence illustrator for many years until family life and its demands took me in a different direction. I now work part time in a Special Needs College and create artworks in my spare time; but am working towards being a full time artist. As an illustrator for magazines and books I worked in a very precise and controlled way. Now my painting style has changed; I enjoy the freedom to express myself in a more impressionistic and abstract way using acrylic paint in bright colours on large canvases, experimenting with different techniques. The inspiration for these floral artworks comes from my love of flowers and creative gardening. I see a flower bed or vase of flowers as a painted canvas, forever growing and changing; producing vibrant movement; colour and beauty. I am also starting to experiment with portrait painting which I find fascinating and hugely enjoyable.
